Auto Patch Control Operator feature

I have had Many Long (Rewarding) Conversations with our friend Steve W9SH. And in one of our conversations, which I am in the process of experimenting with, we discussed the Auto-patch capability of app-rpt. Particularly, the processes involved when a Control Operator is handling an Auto-patch.

It has always been my understanding that the "HAM" on the RF side of the Patch is the Control operator... and the easiest way to gain control of the patch was to hit the PTT which in turn muted the audio from the Phone line so that it would not go to the output of the repeater. This feature would make it possible for the HAM ("Control Operator") To have complete control over what was being sent over the repeater during said patch.
